Samuel Barber had complete confidence in his violin concerto: in 1940 he preferred to cancel the planned premiere rather than make changes that he was not convinced of. Today, Barber’s Violin Concerto is one of the most popular solo concertos of the 20th century. Led by Sir Antonio Pappano, Janine Jansen and the LSO bring this masterpiece to Denmark, alongside works by Lili Boulanger and Serge Rachmaninoff.
