Curated by LSO animateur Rachel Leach, this showcase brings together the Orchestra with participants from all across LSO Discovery’s work.

It all starts with a single spark … Come along to this year’s LSO Discovery Showcase, a concert bursting with joy and celebration. Involving nearly 200 performers from programmes supporting young people, communities and the next generation of musicians, this concert shines a light on the importance of bringing music to everybody.

Kicking off the showcase in dramatic style, the Orchestra performs Manuel de Falla’s ‘Ritual Fire Dance’ from his magical ballet El amor brujo. Composed and performed by members of LSO Create, Create Fire! takes inspiration from fire-breathing dragons, cosy log fires and mischievous fireworks.

Expect a blaze of sound with Light Dancing, a new piece by Eloise Gynn, an alumnus of LSO Panufnik Composers Scheme, and Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian’s piece, also an alumnus, showcases the flare of the next generation of performers. Closing the concert, all groups come together for a final crackle of activity in Rachel Leach’s piece A single spark...

Pre-Concert Performance and Installations
Soak up the atmosphere from 6pm in the Barbican Foyers and enjoy performances, installations and films from LSO Connect and LSO Soundhub composer John Aulich.

Update to event start time
For scheduling and performer licensing reasons, the start time for the LSO Discovery Showcase concert on Monday 19 June will now be 7.30pm rather than 7pm. Listings are in the process of being updated and existing bookers will be contacted with updated tickets shortly.
