What’s On
A large group of people pose in an elaborate, theatrical scene around a long stone table, with a shirtless man lying on top with an apple in his mouth, someone shouting through a megaphone below, and a man in a black suit sitting prominently in the foreground.

Multi-GRAMMY award-winning vocal group Roomful of Teeth perform tracks from their latest album in collaboration with Gabriel Kahane, Elevator Songs.

Roomful of Teeth is known for pushing vocal music beyond conventional choral singing, using everything from throat singing to yodelling. Gabriel Kahane writes songs and large-scale works that focus on character, place and American life, often drawing on history, politics and personal testimony. Their new collaboration, Elevator Songs, is built around nine characters moving through an interdimensional hotel, with each song placing the listener inside a different room, situation, and emotional state.

Written and arranged by Kahane, the music moves between pop and chamber music. Performed live, the work unfolds as a series of connected stories carried entirely by the human voice, showing both the range of Roomful of Teeth as performers and the emotional precision of Kahane’s writing.
