Music lingers in paint, light reshapes space, and identities burn and emerge anew.

Promenade fills LSO St Luke’s with encounters between sound and light, spanning live painting, optical illusion, large-scale projection, electronics and a richly varied instrumental palette.

The afternoon opens with a free exhibition of canvases made alongside musicians, preserving something of the energy and exchange of those encounters. In Jerwood Hall, The Portal surrounds live piano improvisation with projected light, inviting visitors to move around its structure and discover how their viewpoint transforms what they see.

As evening arrives, painters and improvising musicians share the stage, responding to one another through colour, gesture, rhythm and texture. Black Ash closes the day: across five chapters, this experimental theatre work follows the burning and remaking of a sense of self.
