What will the future look like? And what do we want to keep from today? For this year’s LSO Discovery Showcase, where the members of our learning and community programme step into the spotlight, we explore the theme of ‘Horizons’ in a concert bursting with creativity and imagination.

The young musicians of LSO On Track Next Generation deliver a thought-provoking, inspiring new piece that they’ve developed in collaboration, reflecting on a world without destruction and conflict. LSO Connect, the Claremont Project and Help on Your Doorstep bring us beautiful and sublime original works that encourage us to appreciate the world we have.

Hope is abundant in the LSO Discovery Choirs’ performance, with well known tunes and new compositions coming together to imagine what’s yet to come. And the London Symphony Orchestra perform John Adams’ exuberant, minimalist whirlwind, Short Ride in a Fast Machine.

LSO Discovery brings together almost 200 performers to the Barbican stage, spanning generations and boroughs: from the LSO Discovery Choirs, LSO Connect and LSO Next Generation, to the practitioners, conductors and composers who have directed their creativity. The performers are joined by animateur Rhia Parker and conductor Karen Ní Bhroin, whose passion for musical community shines out in this performance.
