Explore Aaron Copland’s Wild West-inspired Billy the Kid alongside other musical rogues and scoundrels, with perhaps a hero or two swooping in to save the day!
Presented in a fun and informative way, LSO Family Concerts feature music based on a theme and are an opportunity for families to learn more about music and the instruments of the orchestra. There are free workshops before the concert, and everyone can get involved by playing or singing along with the audience participation piece during the concert.
Free Crèche
There is a free crèche available for younger siblings under the age of 7.
Places must be booked in advance by emailing the Barbican Box Office at tickets@barbican.org.uk or calling 020 7870 2500 (Mon–Fri 12 noon–5.30pm). Please give the age of the child the place will be for.

Instrumental Participation Workshop (Stalls Lounge, Barbican Foyer, Level -1)

LSO Player Shaun Thompson leads Instrument Participation for Billy’s Hoedown, teaching parts for you to play along with the LSO during the concert. Young people are encouraged to bring their own instruments from home. Book your place here from 10am Friday 15 March.

Jemma Freestone leads an introductory Music Making workshop based around the story of Billy the Kid, who we will learn more about in the concert!

Two reflective works from Ralph Vaughan Williams and Edward Elgar, plus Arnold Bax’s evocative portrait of the Cornish countryside. Sir Antonio Pappano is joined by David Cohen, LSO Principal Cello, for Elgar's Cello Concerto.
