The orchestra in a recording session

Record with the Orchestra

Get in touch to collaborate with us

Collaborate with the London Symphony Orchestra, one of the most-recorded ensembles on the planet. We work with a genre-busting roster of world-class artists across film, video games, bespoke audio-only experiences and more. With over 2,500 recordings to our name, our performances have been decorated with multiple honours from the Grammys, Oscars, Golden Globes, BAFTAs and BRITs, not to mention multiple Mercury Music Prize album nominations.

Why the London Symphony Orchestra

Only One LSO

As a self-governing orchestra, with all LSO Members being shareholders, there is a collective sense of achieving the best possible quality and outcome for every project. We don’t undertake two conflicting engagements at the same time, so we can guarantee that the orchestra you work with is indeed the LSO (and of the same world-class quality that we would present on the concert platform).

Globally-Renowned Performance

There is something unique about going into the studio with an established ensemble who already perform together day-in day-out and who are said to be one of the world’s best orchestras, let alone the UK. Not only are our musicians regarded as some of the best sight-readers in the world, but to quote Alexandre Desplat: ‘The LSO doesn’t just play the notes perfectly the first time, they play the music.’

Remarkable Value for Money

We have a celebrated and distinguished worldwide reputation, and charge based on the standard UK Musicians’ Union session rates – so there shouldn’t be a significant cost difference between the LSO and comparable freelance session musicians. There is no generic rate card, and every enquiry is considered individually. Please get in touch to discuss your project in further detail.

Unsurpassed Experience

With an average of 30 different studio projects a year, we have the knowledge and expertise to support all elements of organising your project – from simply helping you find a suitable venue to more detailed elements such as arranging an appropriate conductor, specialist musicians (including non-orchestral players), producer, music preparation services, and even photography or filming crew (if applicable).

Priority Access to LSO St Luke’s

In the 20+ years since it was restored, LSO St Luke’s has proved a hidden gem of a venue, hosting innumerable recorded projects – from filmed BBC Sessions with artists including Annie Lennox, Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison, to orchestral soundtracks for films, video games and advertising ‘jingles’, not to mention audio-only albums across the breadth of the LSO’s work in different genres and for varying styles of label and artist. Through engaging the LSO, you can take advantage of specifically-matched availability at LSO St Luke’s, and the venue’s expertise in delivering your project to the highest possible standard.
