The Concert

Kick-start your evening with a 60-minute Half Six Fix concert. Introduced by the performers, with screens in the hall to bring you closer to the action.

The Music

A sweeping journey from the river to the sky and back again, highlighting the diversity and invention that abounded as America forged its modern musical voice in the early 20th century. After the haunting arrangement of a traditional hymn, embrace the experimental chaos of Charles Ives’ competing country church bells, then bask in the lush, rich sounds of George Gershwin’s musical set on the waterfront of Charleston, South Carolina.

The Performers

The supremely versatile Barbara Hannigan will both sing and conduct, as well as give a direct insight into this carefully curated programme in her Half Six Fix introduction.
