The London Symphony Orchestra is deeply saddened by the passing of George Fenton – a prolific composer with whom the Orchestra were proud to have worked on various projects together.
We were privileged to have him conduct a concert celebrating his remarkable legacy of work in 2009, and to have also recorded his soundtracks to films by Stephen Frears and Richard Attenborough.
He is fondly remembered for his gentle and generously collaborative nature. Despite creating internationally celebrated scores, recognised and beloved by millions, he remained unfailingly modest and in service of the music.
Our thoughts are with his family, as well as his many friends and colleagues across the wider musical community.
