We are pleased to announce the two composers who have been appointed to the LSO Jerwood Composer+ scheme – Euchar Gravina and Lisa Robertson, who will participate in a 15-month placement, developing and delivering two artistic projects while gaining entrepreneurial skills through mentoring by LSO staff.
Euchar and Lisa will have access to composition workshops and mentoring from other composers, industry professionals and musicians to develop their artistic practice and programme a showcase work of their own, as well as works by other composers. Both composers will present their first concerts in January and February 2026 at LSO St Luke’s. Learn more about them below.

I’m delighted to have been awarded a place on the LSO’s Jerwood Composer+ scheme – a wonderful and unique chance to work closely with the LSO’s musicians and team, and to bring together my curatorial work and composing. I’m excited to share new work alongside music by other brilliant composers in concert and projects in the coming year!
Euchar Gravina is a composer and artistic director from Malta, based in London. His compositions, spanning orchestral, chamber, solo, choral and electronic music, have been commissioned and performed internationally, including by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Teatru Manoel and Christ Church Cathedral Choir (Oxford).
Notable works include a chamber orchestra piece for Aldeburgh Festival, a violin/orchestra piece recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and a touring children opera for Teatru Malta. His music has also been played by LSO Percussion, Magnard Ensemble, and collaborators mezzo-soprano Marvic Monreal and pianist Gabi Sultana.
Euchar is the Artistic Director at St John’s Waterloo and Waterloo Festival, and curates exhibitions and projects that merge the arts with social justice. He studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music and the University of Malta.

I am extremely excited to be joining the LSO Jerwood Composer+ scheme and am really looking forward to the experience of curating two events. I am interested in reflecting my experiences of living in the remote coastal West Highlands in a programme which creates an immersive experience for the audience, bringing them into this world.
Lisa Robertson is a composer from the West Highlands of Scotland, particularly interested in examining human/environment relationships and Gaelic culture. Her music has been performed by The Sixteen, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, EXAUDI, Psappha, Red Note Ensemble, defunensemble, Hebrides Ensemble, Lucy Schaufer, and Heather Roche, among others.
Her music has appeared at festivals including Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Cheltenham Music Festival, Musica Nova Helsinki, Nordic Music Days, West Cork Chamber Music Festival, Sound Festival and on BBC Radio 3 and BBC World Service. She was featured in BBC Music Magazine’s ‘Rising Stars’ column and was shortlisted four times for the Scottish Awards for New Music. She completed a PhD at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and participated in the RSNO Composers’ Hub NYCGB’s Young Composers Scheme and the RPS Composers Programme. She is a Music Patron composer and her music is published by Composers Edition.
