LSO Create Open Rehearsals are an opportunity for individuals and groups of disabled and/or neurodiverse adults, their supporters and carers, to hear the London Symphony Orchestra rehearsing in the Barbican Hall.
It is always our highest priority to ensure we are being as inclusive as possible. However, we do have to be mindful during the Open Rehearsals that they are still working rehearsals for the orchestra, who require a certain level of quiet to rehearse effectively and therefore they are not going to be the most relaxed environment for some of our Create participants, carers and supporters. We therefore kindly request that you are mindful when deciding on who you intend to bring along, should you be successful in your application to attend an LSO Create Open Rehearsal.
In contrast, our LSO Create Relaxed Concerts are specifically programmed and performed for audiences who are neurodivergent and/or disabled, and there is a relaxed attitude to noise, movement and lighting. Audience members are able to walk in and out and there are designated chill out areas to help reduce stress levels. As such, some individuals may be better suited to attend one of our Relaxed Concerts. These are advertised via our Relaxed Concerts webpage and our Inclusive Activities Mailing lists for which you can subscribe at the bottom of this webpage.
My son loves coming to see the LSO. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s lovely to be able to spend time together whilst listening to quality music. Music is what he lives for and the more access he can have to these kind of events, the more it benefits his overall wellbeing
We had a great experience. LSO staff were warm and welcoming, providing an open and friendly atmosphere. The hall was comfortable and uncrowded. The rehearsal itself was excellent and it was great to see the process the conductor and musicians go through to prepare. – Create Open Rehearsal Attendees
