Tannaz Beigi
This scholarship is transformative: it gives me the chance to grow within one of the world’s most inspiring communities.
Tannaz Beigi is a distinguished Iranian harpist and the first from her country to study harp at London’s Royal College of Music under the mentorship of Ieuan Jones. She recently completed her bachelor’s degree and will begin her Master’s at the RCM in September 2025 on a full scholarship, as an LSO Scholar and recipient of the Countess of Munster Musical Trust Award (2025/26).
At just 15, Tannaz made history performing Boieldieu’s Harp Concerto with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Shahrdad Rohani—the first performance of its kind in Iran since the revolution. She subsequently served as the orchestra’s harpist until 2021 and later returned as soloist in Debussy’s Danses sacrées et profanes.
Tannaz’s competition highlights include First Prize at the Concours Français de la Harpe in France, Second Prize at Italy’s Suoni d’Arpa Competition, and first prize in both the Harp and Concerto Competitions at the Royal College of Music, leading to a performance of Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Concertino for Harp with the RCM Philharmonic.
Her international appearances include solo performances at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie; London’s Wigmore Hall; the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall; Queen Elizabeth Hall; Helsinki’s Musiikkitalo; and Singapore’s Victoria Concert Hall. She has also performed for the Emperor of Japan and toured internationally.
This season, Tannaz gave a solo recital at St James’s Piccadilly and appeared at the Snape Maltings Festival with the RCM Symphony Orchestra.
