
Emil Hartikainen
Violinist Emil Hartikainen is one of Finland’s up and coming young talents of his generation. Recent seasons have seen him performing in festivals and concerts around the world; Germany, Kronberg Academy Festival, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland and two International tours as a soloist and chamber musician as well as recent Wigmore-Hall and Finnish National Opera House debut..
Eager to expand his knowledge and skill, Emil has taken masterclasses from many distinguished instructors, including Ana Chumachenko, Mihaela Martin, Ivry Gitlis, Antje Weithaas, Pinchas Zukerman. Besides soloistic orientation, chamber music plays a major part in his life.
Hartikainen is founder of, and first violin with, the Bålder Quartet. The Quartet was formed earlier in 2018 in Helsinki, Finland. The Ensemble made it’s debut at the Carnegie Hall later that same year. In 2019, they were invited to perform at the prestigious Mozarthaus in Vienna, Austria.
Bålder Quartet is a part of the Kuhmo Chamber Music Academy, where they studied with the renowned Quatuor Danel, Enescu Quartet, and META4. The ensemble’s activities are generously supported by the Finnish Culture Foundation, and they have undertaken two international tours and organized their first festival in 2022.
The Bålder Quartet recorded their first album Piazzolla & Kancheli: Estaciones Portenãs & Instead of a Tango during the summer of 2024
In 2018 after being awarded a full scholarship Emil begun his studies at the International Menuhin Music Academy, Switzerland with prof. Renaud Capuçon.
Since 2020 Hartikainen has been awarded a full scholarship to continue his bachelor studies at the Royal Academy of Music. Hartikainen plays a Ferdinandus Gagliano violin (1767) owned by the OP Art Foundation.
