Elliot Kempton

Violin and Viola, Guildhall School

Equally in demand as a violinist and violist, Elliot Kempton regular performs as a soloist and chamber musician across Europe; recent appearances include Wigmore Hall (London), Auditorio Sony (Madrid), Museo del Violino (Cremona), and the Palacio de Festivales, (Santander).

As a chamber musician, he has had the privilege of participating in music festivals such as the Scheirmonnikoog International Chamber Music Festival, Netherlands; Arte Amanti International Festival, Belgium; as well as major music festivals across the UK.

In 2022, he became the viola player of the Fibonacci Quartet. Since joining the ensemble, they have gone on to receive first prize in the Cavatina Competition 2023, as well as the Royal Overseas League Chamber Music Competition 2023. As well as concerts, the quartet regularly give radio and television broadcasts including appearances on Dutch National Television, BBC Radio 3, and ClassicNL. The quartet study as a resident ensemble at the Reina Sofia School of Music with former leader of the Alban Berg Quartet, Günter Pichler.

Elliot also plays the viola as part of the flute, viola and harp ensemble, Oneira Trio. He is also first violin in the Welsh Quartet, Quartet Draig, with whom he regularly performs programmes of both contemporary and unpublished Welsh compositions across Wales.

Elliot is currently a scholar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studies with Matthew Jones. Previous to this, he studied with Bartosz Woroch at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, as well as recieving lessons from Itzahk Rashkovsky.

Aside from performing, Elliot enjoys composing music, drawing pictures for friends and family, and long walks in the Wye Valley.
