The LSO East London Academy is developed by LSO On Track in partnership with the local Music Services in ten East London boroughs:
Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Greenwich, Hackney, Havering, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.

The LSO East London Academy is made possible through the generous support of the Henocq Law Trust, The Steel Charitable Trust, The Irving Memorial Trust, the Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation and The Radcliffe Trust.

Young musicians of the LSO East London Academy come together to present an evening of sensational performances for full orchestra, string orchestra, brass ensemble, and chamber music for woodwind, percussion and strings. Help us celebrate the hard work of these inspirational young east Londoners.

This will be the first time since the programme was announced by Sir Simon Rattle that the full 40 young musicians will have had the opportunity to perform together.

The concert will include music by Coleridge-Taylor, Elena Kats-Chernin and Shostakovich, as well as original music written by LSO ELA young musicians and more, performed alongside musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Kerem Hasan.

Following significant disruption due to the pandemic, these inspiring young musicians have shown their commitment, creativity and resilience, rising to every challenge. The group have worked together online, in small socially distant groups and we are thrilled that the showcase concert marks the culmination of an intensive term of high-level coaching sessions, including masterclasses, rehearsals, recording sessions, workshops to devise their own music, and attendance at LSO rehearsals and concerts, stretching their skills both as individual musicians and as orchestral players.
