New Moves 2012

Aurora Orchestra’s groundbreaking New Moves residency at LSO St Luke’s fuses art forms and musical styles in unique programmes that inspire, shock, challenge and astonish. With music ranging from Biber to Mahler, through folk, breakdance and klezmer; the UK’s most versatile orchestra and Principal Conductor Nicholas Collon bring you a series full of invention, virtuosity, and passion, featuring BBoy Battles, a foot-pounding five-piece folk band and a new chamber arrangement of Mahler's First Symphony.

'A fabulous young chamber orchestra that in six years of existence has emerged as one of the most dynamic, innovative and open-minded groups of its kind.'
Daily Telegraph, 2011

Since its creation in 2005, Aurora Orchestra has established a reputation as one of the most dynamic, innovative and challenging emerging voices in British classical music. Its projects combine outstanding musical quality with inventive programming and an ambitious commitment to reaching new audiences. Bringing together some of London’s most exciting young soloists in a virtuosic and versatile ensemble, the orchestra appears under the baton of its inspirational Principal Conductor, Nicholas Collon. In 2011 Aurora became the youngest-ever winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Ensemble Award.

LSO St Luke's is delighted to be working with Aurora Orchestra in this artistic residency.
