Rudolf Buchbinder piano
London Symphony Orchestra
The extraordinarily versatile Nikolaj Znaider, who appears as a violin soloist later in the season, takes the podium to introduce the Austrian pianist Rudolf Buchbinder to the Barbican. With much-acclaimed recordings of the Beethoven sonata cycle to his credit, Buchbinder is ideally placed to make his LSO debut in Beethoven’s dramatic Fourth Concerto, one of the greatest works in the repertory. Mahler’s titanic First Symphony brings the concert to a rousing conclusion.
