Another popular visiting guest artist with the LSO, Japanese violin virtuoso Midori, commands a huge repertoire stretching from Bach to contemporary music. Her contribution to the International Violin Festival is Bartok’s vibrant Second Concerto, full of Hungarian spice. Up-and-coming Ossetian-born conductor Tugan Sokhiev has recorded several Tchaikovsky symphonies. He makes his LSO debut with the dark-hued Fourth, Tchaikovsky’s personal confrontation with Fate.
