In a new LSO Discovery concert format, designed for senior school students and adults alike, presenter Paul Rissmann and the full Orchestra will explore movements from and discover the secrets behind four symphonic masterworks.

Using large-screen projection and musical demonstrations, Paul will guide you through important aspects of the works and will shed light on the history and cultural context of the composers and their music.

How did Berlioz conjure up such vivid imagery? How did Shostakovich's relationship with the government shape his compositions? Find out the answer to these questions and discover what really makes these great symphonies truly great.

The concert will include complete performances of movements from all four works.
