Free Friday Lunchtimes: Spring 2015 series

Award-winning presenter Rachel Leach, together with LSO and Guildhall School musicians, guides all ages through the wonderful world of classical music in these informal 45-minute performances which also include a Q&A session. This term's concerts focus on 'endangered species' instruments – less commonly played ones include the bassoon, trombone, double bass, viola and percussion. We'll meet LSO Principal Bassoon Dan Jemison, Principal Trombone Pete Moore (just 18 years old!) and others, in this special series which might just give you some ideas...
LSO Family Concert: Viva España!

This February we’re throwing a fiesta to have fun with all things Spanish. Bring your castanets and hear classic tunes from Bizet’s Sevillian opera Carmen, de Falla’s El sombrero de tres picos and Rimsky-Korsakov’s glittering Cappricio Espagnol.

LSO at half-term: Sounds of Russia

This half term, why not make the most of your lie-ins and join
your parents for a grown-up classical experience? This concert, conducted by the LSO’s Principal Conductor Valery Gergiev presents works from three Russian composers including Rachmaninov, best known for sweepingly romantic melodies.

Musical Storytelling for Under-5s

Rachel Leach and LSO musicians re-tell a popular children's story through music, offering younger children the chance to dance and sing their way through live music in the beautiful Jerwood Hall.

LSO Family Concert: Dogs Don't Do Ballet

A family concert based on Anna Kemp’s hilarious 2010 book about puppy Biff and his preference for tutus over chew-toys. Plus, fun free pre-concert activities and a chance to bring your instrument and join in.

LSO Discovery Rites of Passage

Every year, the LSO shares the Barbican stage with individuals, old and young, who've taken part in education and community projects throughout the season – the results are always spectacular and frequently bring a tear to the eye!

Become and super sleuth and help the City of London Police track down criminals by learning how to search for clues at a crime scene, gather evidence, dust for fingerprints etc. Younger children can also enjoy dressing up and tesing out equipment.
