Two fine young musicians collaborate on this all-Viennese programme. David Afkham, a former winner of the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition, joins the prize-winning American pianist Nicholas Angelich, who studied in Paris and now enjoys a thriving international career, in Beethoven’s Third Concerto. It’s paired with Brahms’s radiant Second Symphony, one of his most joyous creations.
