Join us on an exotic journey into the heart of the Arabian nights and meet the greatest storyteller of them all - Princess Scheherazade. Discover how this beautiful royal stayed alive and awake for 1001 nights and kept the evil Sultan enthralled with tales of Sinbad and his ship, a prince turned beggar, a wonderful love story and the amazing Baghdad Festival. Featuring the luscious music of Rimsky-Korsakov.

Pre-concert workshops: 10.30am –1pm
Get those creative juices flowing in these themed workshops. You’ll get the chance to compose your own music and make exotic props to bring into the concert.

Free foyer activities: 1.10–2.20pm
Arrive early to join in with fun activities:

- Singing workshop with Lucy Griffiths

For children under seven, be sure to book a place at the free crèche – designed to occupy younger siblings while the main concert takes place.

Arrive early to join in with fun activities

An interactive storytelling session with Rachel Rose Reid
Travel back beyond a thousand years to join Scheherazade in Persia. What story shall we tell with her? Princesses or sailors, Sultans and shipwrecks. There and back in twenty minutes!

Singing workshop with Lucy Griffiths
Get your voices warmed up for the concert with some fun vocal activities and songs. Have a go at the audience participation song and see if you can sing louder than the orchestra! (please download the participation song on the Overview tab)

Participation Piece rehearsal
Whistling winds, bellowing brass or strapping strings can all have a practice at the participation piece with LSO musicians ready for the performance in the concert.
